ABOUT THE INTRO TO CAPOEIRA COURSE
Practitioners “play” Capoeira for various personal reasons; as a way to free the mind, body, and soul. In addition, capoeira is a great tool to release tension, improve balance, strengthen muscles and improve flexibility. Capoeira has become a part of the global community and I designed this class with performers in mind, after years of teaching in Latin America, the U.S., Europe and Asia.
During this eight-week course students will explore body awareness through Capoeira music, percussion and call and response chants. The course is specifically designed to release body tension while connecting with the inner self, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We will be exploring movement in relation with the four fundamental elements of nature: earth, water, air, and fire.
As we immerse ourselves in the world of Capoeira, I will help you free and connect with your body through a variety of challenging movements. I am committed to creating a safe and mindful environment in which each participant will be worked with according to his or her individual focus and goals.
What to Expect:
- Immerse yourself in Capoeira and dive into the basics
- Explore movement and learn how it relates to the four fundamental elements (earth, water, air and fire).
- Focus on stretching and strengthening
- Improve your ability to stay connected to the moment during performance
